Established in 2025 by Derek Harlan and Tim Long, Magpie Menace
blends Iowa roots with Carolina grit — music for your soul.
Both members grew up in southern Iowa. Derek eventually moved to
North Carolina and began performing as Smokin' D and has released
three albums since 2017. Tim stayed in the Hawkeye state and began
producing music as Tim Long and the Timlongs, releasing his debut
album in 2024 with After Hours.
The duo released their first song, After Hours, in January
of 2025, and they haven't slowed down since. Sending tracks back
and forth over the internet, and frequently collaborating with
other artists, Magpie Menace has already released 12 singles in
just over a year. And they're just getting started!
